(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command apprehended 3 fishermen for engaging in fishing activities using illegal fishing nets in the sea area of Nachchikuda on Monday (17).
Along with the suspects 2 dinghies, a traditional boat (Wallam) and 6 illegal fishing nets were also taken into naval custody. The arrested fishermen, their boats and fishing gear were handed over to the Kilinochchi Fisheries Inspector for onward legal action.
