(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Disney and Lucasfilm have premiered ‘Sands of Jakku,’ the first animated short from their “Star Wars: Forces of Destiny” series and one featuring Rey (Daisy Ridley) and BB-8 from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
Developed by Lucasfilm Animation, the animated micro-series is said to be in canon and shows how choices both big and small ultimately shape the destinies of beloved heroines of the series.
The animated micro-series will be available on Disney YouTube ahead of a two-part television special featuring eight additional shorts on Disney Channel in fall 2017.
Various actresses from the franchise including Felicity Jones (Jyn), Tiya Sircar (Sabine), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), and Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata) will all lend their voices to the series.
