UTV | COLOMBO – 26 Sri Lankans who were denied asylum by Australia and Switzerland have arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (Mar. 14).
15 deported Sri Lankans arrived from Australia in a special flight.
The other 11 have been deported from Switzerland.
Our airport correspondent said border security officials from both the countries have accompanied the deportees.
Meanwhile, the Department of Immigration and Emigration said that the deported group included Sinhalese as well as Tamils.
They will be released after statements are recorded by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
