(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 14 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized fishing nets in the sea area off Norway Island on Sunday (04).
During the arrest, 2 dinghies, 2 outboard motors, 2 unauthorised fishing nets, and 1 diving mask were taken into Naval custody. The arrested fishermen and fishing gear were produced before the Assistant Director of Fisheries for further investigations.
