(UTV|COLOMBO) – Leader of the Opposition Mahinda Rajapaksa says a candidate who can bring about true development has been fielded by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) for the 2019 Presidential Election.
Speaking at a rally in Ratnapura the Opposition Leader claimed that the present administration halted all progressive initiatives taken by his government.
Opposition Leader Rajapaksa added development was ensured by his government, and Colombo was made a developing city in the world.
He noted everything done by his government was pegged back by the present administration, adding that a railway project to Kataragama was stopped at Beliatta.
The Opposition Leader said the Ratnapura highway project, which would have saved travel time for the public, was brought to a halt by the present government.
Opposition Leader Rajapaksa added he signed agreements for the Ratnapura highway project and paid compensation for land.
The Opposition Leader stressed that someone who is talented and can work must be elected.
