(UTV|COLOMBO) – Two individuals including a police officer have been nabbed while transporting 180 kilos of Kerala Cannabis in Mannar.
The suspects had been travelling in a luxury jeep and had ignored signals to stop at a Navy roadblock, following which Navy officers had open fire at the vehicle.
Navy Spokesman Lieutenant Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara stated that among the suspects is a police officer attached to the Medagama Police Station.
He had been wearing his uniform at the time of the incident, the spokesman stated.
