(UTV|COLOMBO) – China’s Parliament unanimously handed President Xi Jinping a second term on Saturday (17) and elevated his right-hand man to the Vice-Presidency, giving him a strong ally to consolidate power and handle US trade threats.
The legislature is packed with delegates loyal to the ruling Communist Party meaning Xi’s re-election was never in doubt.
On Sunday Parliament voted to amend the constitution to remove Presidential term limits, meaning Xi can stay indefinitely.
