(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Courts permitted the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to detain and question Kuruppuge Pushpakumara Mendis alias Bunty till the 27th over the killing of 7 persons including notorious gangster Samayan.
This was when the suspect was produced before the Kalutara Chief Magistrates Court.
The suspect was arrested day before yesterday while hiding in the Sella Katharagama area.
During questioning it was revealed that nearly 10 assailants had carried out the attack led by an individual known as Angoda Lokka.
A prison bus which was transporting a group of suspects was subject to an attack on February 27th where 5 suspects and 2 prison officers were killed in the cross fire.
