(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The government has taken measures to remove the control price imposed on white sugar and chicken.
Issuing a statement, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce said the decision was arrived at after the consumer needs, import price and retail price of chicken and white sugar were considered.
A 93 rupee control price was imposed on white sugar. A kilogram of chicken was priced at 410 rupees while a kilogram of skinless chicken was priced at 490 rupees.
A gazette notification in this regard has been issued yesterday (13th Monday).
