No Valentine’s Day in Pakistan

(UDHAYAM, ISLAMABAD) – A Pakistani High Court yesterday (13th February) banned any public acknowledgements of Valentine’s Day in Islamabad, the country’s capital.

The order was issued following a petition by an individual, claiming that Valentine’s Day is used as a cover to spread “immorality, nudity and indecency”.

Accordingly, media was also banned from promoting Valentine’s Day.

The ban is endorsed by Islamist parties in Pakistan.
