(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Finance today (06th Monday) announced maximum retail price for rice.
The Ministry announced the new prices following directives issued by the sub-committee appointed by the Cabinet on cost of living management.
Accordingly the price cap on a kilogram of Nadu rice was set at 70 rupees while Samba rice was set at 80 rupees.
However, previously the Ministry of Commerce issued directives to control the retail price of Nadu and Kekulu rice.
The Commerce Ministry said a kilogram of Nadu and Kekulu rice can only be sold at a maximum retail price of 66 rupees.
