(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Election Commission likely to refrain from issuing election results of the forthcoming Presidential Election to 2 State media institutions and 2 private media institutions, its Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya stated.
He made this remarks today (13) during a media briefing.
Considering a survey conducted by the Department of Government Information, Deshapriya stressed that these media institutions have been biased in regard to providing the air time to political parties in the recent news broadcasts.
Accordingly, a decision will be taken regarding the issuance of election results to these media institutions following a special discussion with the Officials of the Election Commission this afternoon.
