“No UNP links to petition against Gotabaya” – Sujeewa Senasinghe

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Non-Cabinet Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe says the United National Party (UNP) was in no manner or form linked to the petition filed challenging Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s citizenship.

Minister Senasinghe stressed that the UNP has no intention of involving itself in legal matters against Gotabaya Rajapaksa, amidst the backdrop of an upcoming Presidential election.

He said there are many illegal acts linked to Gotabaya Rajapaksa, however stressed the UNP, will not back the judiciary to carry out any cases against him, since the Presidential election has been Gazetted, neither will the group appoint lawyers to see such matters through.

He said the party will therefore allow court to freely carry out its proceedings without bias.

Senasinghe  said any citizen has the right to go to court.

He stated the UNP will maintain its code of ethics.
