(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) yesterday (22nd Wednesday) directed the University Grants Commission (UGC) to submit a report within two weeks giving details as to how the degree awarding status was granted to the SAITM.
The COPE has also decided to summon former UGC Chairman Prof.Kshanika Hirimburegama and former Higher Education Ministry Secretary Dr.Sunil Jayantha Navaratne before the Committee on March 8 to question them over the procedure adopted to grant the degree awarding status to SAITM.
The UGC authorities headed by its Chairman Prof. Mohan de Silva along with the Higher Education Ministry Secretary appeared before the COPE yesterday.
